NAMES + WORDING

Your words.
Please spell them properly.

Personalisation is what turns a lovely present into their lovely present. It also means the name, date, greeting and wording you enter need one very important final check before you order.

We print what you enter. Not what you meant.

We do not routinely correct names, dates, spelling, grammar or mysterious family in-jokes. If it matters, please check it. Then check it once more for luck.

✦ Professional printing makes typos look extremely official.

READ THIS BEFORE CREATING A VERY PRETTY TYPO

Tiny spelling box. Surprisingly important job.

We make the product. You supply the personal bits. Here is what happens to names, dates, greetings, longer wording and the occasional ambitious punctuation mark.

ABC

Type it exactly as you want it printed.

We use the information supplied with your order. We do not routinely:

  • correct names or spelling
  • rewrite grammar or punctuation
  • guess missing information
  • change ages or dates
  • compare wording across separate products
  • decode a private joke known only to your family

Check every personalised field before completing checkout. We are very good at printing. We are less accomplished at telepathy.

Aa

Capitals, lowercase + fancy little letters.

Some fonts appear entirely in uppercase, entirely in lowercase, mixed case or with decorative letterforms.

SARAH Uppercase
sarah Lowercase
Sarah Mixed case
Sarah Decorative

Typing a name in capitals does not necessarily mean the finished design will appear in capitals. The font and style shown in the product example form part of the design.

Long wording gets smaller.

Longer names and phrases may need to be reduced in size, split over additional lines, repositioned or adjusted slightly so they fit the design.

We preserve the overall look of the artwork while making your wording as clear and balanced as possible. If the personalisation field has a character limit, there is usually an excellent reason lurking behind it.

Emojis, symbols + tiny digital mysteries.

Please do not enter emojis, icons or unusual symbols unless the individual product specifically says they are supported.

Not every font or production system contains every character. Unsupported symbols may disappear, display incorrectly or prevent your personalisation from working as expected.

ABC Normal letters are excellent.
123 Numbers are generally welcome.
!?& Standard punctuation is usually fine.
✨🦄 Random graphical symbols are risky unless allowed.
é

Apostrophes, accents + special characters.

Names containing apostrophes, hyphens or accented characters are absolutely worth entering correctly, but support can depend on the particular font used in the design.

If a name contains a character that is essential to the correct spelling, enter it exactly as required. If you are concerned that a particular accented or special character may not display in the chosen design, contact us before ordering and we can confirm.

O’Neil Apostrophes matter.
Anne-Marie Hyphens matter too.
Zoë Accents can be part of the correct name.
José Ask first if you are unsure about font support.

Custom wording is welcome where the product allows it.

Some products allow custom greetings or messages while others allow only a name, age or another specific field. Please use the personalisation options shown on that product page.

We may decline wording that is unlawful, threatening, discriminatory, seriously abusive towards our staff or otherwise inappropriate for us to reproduce.

If a product says “name only”, giving us a small novel in the order notes does not quietly unlock the deluxe novelist package.

Changes after ordering may not be possible.

Personalised orders can move into production quickly. If you notice an error immediately after ordering, contact us as soon as possible and we will see whether the order can still be changed.

Once artwork has been prepared, printing has begun or the product has entered production, we may not be able to alter customer-supplied wording.

👁

Product previews are guides.

The examples and previews shown online illustrate how the design generally looks. Final placement, line breaks, letter size and spacing may vary slightly depending on the wording supplied.

Small layout adjustments are sometimes necessary to stop an unusually long name from staging a hostile takeover of the entire design.

No automatic proof unless we say so.

A separate artwork proof is not supplied unless the individual product page specifically says that a proof is included.

Please don’t wait for an email proof that isn’t coming.

If the product includes a proofing process, the product page will explain it. Otherwise, your order will generally proceed using the information supplied at checkout.

Website previews are illustrative guides rather than a guarantee of pixel-for-pixel final placement. Minor scale, spacing and line-break changes may be made to keep the finished design looking balanced.

YOUR FINAL LITTLE CHECK

Read it once. Then read it again.

Before ordering, check the pieces of information that are surprisingly good at causing trouble when nobody checks them.

Name Correct person. Correct spelling. Excellent start.
Age Particularly important if the recipient is sensitive about such matters.
Date Birthdays and weddings remain stubbornly date-specific.
Wording Check punctuation, line content and the little joke only your family understands.
Address Not technically personalisation, but very helpful if you want the parcel.

A typo you entered is different from a printing fault.

We will of course provide the remedies required by Australian Consumer Law where a product has a fault or does not meet applicable consumer guarantees.

However, if the product has been correctly made using the personalised information you supplied, an error in that customer-supplied information is generally not a manufacturing fault.

In other words: if you entered “Brain” and we beautifully printed “Brain”, the printer has performed its duties with slightly unfortunate excellence.

READY?

Type it. Check it. Check it again. Then let us make it lovely.

Names, dates and tiny personalised details are what make the good stuff properly theirs. Give them one last read before ordering and we’ll take it from there.
